About

Our Kaupapa
Tū Māia Anake Trust exists to uplift Wāhine Māori through cultural healing and hauora. Guided by Te Whare Tapa Whā and the values of Te Kīngitanga — unity, self-determination, and service — our work focuses on identity restoration as a foundation for wellbeing.

Our Vision
To see every Wāhine Māori stand strong in her identity, connected to her iwi, and leading her whānau with confidence and cultural pride.

Our Trustees
Led by a collective of Māori wāhine with lived experience and deep cultural grounding, our Trust meets monthly to guide all kaupapa and community response.

Our Story

Tū Māia Anake Trust was created by Wāhine Māori, for Wāhine Māori — to help those who feel disconnected from their culture, their identity, and their whakapapa.

Many of us grew up without knowing our iwi, our marae, or even how to introduce ourselves in te reo. This disconnection has caused pain, shame, and made it harder to live well.

We started this Trust to change that.

Through our programmes, we support wāhine to reconnect with their whakapapa, strengthen their wellbeing, and step into leadership. Everything we do is based on kaupapa Māori values and Te Whare Tapa Whā — focusing on the whole person: body, mind, spirit, and whānau.

Tū Māia Anake means to stand strong, with courage. That’s what we help wāhine do — for themselves, their families, and the next generation.
